Choir during coronavirus

You don’t need us to tell you how COVID-19 has changed life as we know it. But you do need us to tell you that Term 2 of choir went ahead online, and we loved it.

If you’d told us a year ago that we would run a term of choir TOTALLY online, we would have laughed!

It was a mad hustle to go from being an in-person choir to an online one, from setting up a film set in our home, getting the right equipment, lighting, and sound for streaming, to juicing up our members area with all the materials and resources possible to make online choir the very best it could be.

Throughout the term we worked on our vocal techniques, covered a range of diverse songs from Alice Springs with ‘Horizons’ by Xavia, to the UK for Lianne La Havas' ‘Unstoppable’ to ‘Wash Me in The Ocean’ by choir’s own Phia. ⁣

We also started up our very own Open Mic Night with live sessions on Instagram, where three nights a week we were treated to live shows from our talented choir members. We heard amazing originals, covers, and learned more about the incredibly diverse interests and hobbies of this great bunch of people. They’re all up on our feed if you would like to catch up - head over to @MELBOURNEINDIEVOICES.

Don’t even get us started on the banter. So much banter!! ⁣

Now, we have a much better understanding of what our choir really is - a community of music lovers who come together every week to connect and share. ⁣We’ve grown to know our members even better than before. We’ve loved that. Thank you to everyone who has made this term what it is.

To top off what was already a transformative term, Phia and Josh adopted a CAT. AND THE CAT CAME TO REHEARSALS. IT WAS THE BEST YOU GUYS.

We wish to express a huge thank you to everyone who was part of Term 2 and came back for Term 3. Your support makes a huge difference to us and your membership helps to keep Melbourne Indie Voices viable.

If you want to become part of this growing community, SIGN UP TO OUR WAITLIST. We’d love to get to know you too!
